A Safer Anti-Obesity Alternative To Ozempic - Here’s What You Need To Know

By now, we’ve all heard, scrolled or seen the latest weight loss trend that is dominating social and mainstream media with celebrities and influencers like Mindy Kaling, Kim Kardashian and Remi Badar who are weighing in on the trendy Injectable Weight Loss medications and their experience with them.

These injectable weight loss medications, which are actually intended for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, are taking the weight loss industry by storm.

The Injectable Weight Loss Trend

Injectable medications for weight management are a relatively new method and naturally come with a long list of side effects. The side effects of taking the injectable medication for weight loss include (but are not limited to) thyroid tumours, cancer, pancreatitis, changes in vision, low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), heartburn, bloating, kidney problems, allergic reactions, gallbladder problems and most commonly nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain and constipation.

With injectables, patients will see 15% body weight reduction after 68 weeks of use at the cost of $950 US per month, which means that it would cost the patient $19,000 to see a body weight reduction of 15% in @17 months.

Additionally, injectable weight loss management programs result in rapid re-gaining of all of the lost weight and more and also trigger relapses for those that struggle with binge eating once the patient stops the injections, as influencer Remi Bader has recently shared.

The growing use of these medications for weight loss purposes has also caused a shortage of these drugs for type 2 diabetes patients and has increased their cost, putting lives at risk.

Alternative, safe, non-surgical solutions

Obesity experts recommend alternate methods for losing weight, and one of the newest non-surgical options that Health Canada has just approved for patients is the Allurion Program (Non-Surgical Gastric Balloon).

Patients placed on the Allurion program featuring the Allurion Gastric Balloon lose an average of 7.5% of body weight in the first month and up to 15% at the end of 16 weeks at the cost of @$7000 CDN. This is a 15-minute non-surgical procedure that takes place in a Doctor’s office. The Gastric Balloon is part of the Allurion Program, which includes the Allurion Connected Scale, Health Tracker and Mobile App (iOS, Android), which give patients direct access to support from nutritionists trained in globally renowned nutritionist Zoe Griffiths program to assist with healthy weight loss maintenance.

Doctors ensure that the patient is healthy and doing well physically post-procedure. In fact, the recently launched Allurion Iris Artificial Intelligence Platform and Success Predictor can help improve patient outcomes. As a result of this holistic approach, patients are proven to maintain 96% of their weight loss after 1 year.

To request an interview with  the Co-Founder of Allurion, Harvard Medical School graduate and Canadian-born Dr. Shantanu Gaur, University of Toronto trained Gastric Surgeon Dr. Lamees Almutlaq of Montreal's famed Clinique Michel Gagner or with Allurion's Director of Global Nutrition, Zoe Griffiths, please contact us.

They are happy to discuss the Allurion Gastric Balloon’s performance and benefits in comparison to trending weight loss programs such as injectable medications.
