From Barbie Hair to Rich Jewel Tones what hair colour trends we’ll be seeing on the red carpet in 2024?🎥✨

Red carpet season will be back in full swing starting on January 7th with the Golden Globes.  This past year has seen a resurgence of strong hair colour looks thanks to iconic celebrity hair colour moments such as Margot Robbie’s blonde in Barbie and Emma Stone’s return to her classic red while walking the red carpet for the premiere of Poor Things.

OLAPLEX is thrilled to share the must-watch trend guide for red carpet 2024 from their team of global ambassadors. Tracey Cunningham, Halley Brisker, Cervando Maldonado, and Jacob Schwartz  whose clients will be front and centre this awards season.

Tracey Cunningham

Tracey, the colorist behind Ryan Gosling’s iconic “Ken” blonde and JLO’s sunkissed highlights, predicts that “We will be seeing a lot of high-shine jewel tones this red carpet season like we’ve seen on my clients Riley Keogh and Emma Stone who have both been nominated for Golden Globes. For those of us who want that beautiful red-carpet shine at home, I recommend OLAPLEX No.7 Bonding Oil™, which I use on my clients to give hair that sleek, healthy shine, reduce breakage, and control frizz.” ”

Halley Brisker

“This awards season ahead, we are set to see a return to more soft and flowy looks! As seen with the looks Halley created for Rosie Huntington Whitely, Alexa Chung and Billie Piper, “this is a perfect antidote to the snatched bun we saw take center stage for most of 2023. Adding a sultry and glossy finish to the 'blowout' is the perfect way to make your locks look set for any occasion, including a red carpet. This isn’t just for long hair, shorter hair can look great with shiny flicks and bends. But whether longer or shorter, the key is to smooth that cuticle with the right heat using curling tongs or flat irons. The right prep and finishing products are absolutely key to perfecting any look. My go-to is OLAPLEX's Volumizing Blow Dry Mist before any blowout for body and to give you added heat protection, then No.7 Bonding Oil™ to finish the style with restorative shine.”

Cervando Maldonado

Having recently created Cary Mulligan’s chic, chin length bob  for the premier of Maestro and Miley Cyrus’ sleek top knot look, Cervando predicts that “We can expect to see more textured cuts, natural colors, and low-maintenance styles this awards season.  A slicked back, shiny knot at the nape is here to stay. For shine and smoothness, OLAPLEX No.7 Bonding Oil is key. It also acts as a treatment to reduce breakage and deeply nourish the hair.

Also trending will be loose tousled hair with texture creating a sexy vibe for the red carpet. The look we created on Camila Morrone at the 2023 Vanity Fair Oscar Party will carry into 2024 as a top trend. To create this look, you can use OLAPLEX No.4D Dry Shampoo spray at the end of styling to create clean volume.

We will also be seeing simple, pretty blowouts, which can be created and defined with the OLAPLEX Volumizing Blow Dry Mist.”

Another trend is structured haircuts such as  the collar bone to chin length bob Cervando created for Carey Mulligan, worn either straight or with a slight bend in movement. “The way to achieve this look is with the No.6 Bond Smoother®, starting with damp hair before blow-drying hair as desired. Finish bone-straight hair with No.7 Bonding Oil™ for shine and manageability. For the slightly wavy styles, you can use OLAPLEX  No.4D Dry Shampoo to loosen the hair with soft, weightless body and add movement.”

Jacob Schwartz

“This award season is going to be all about blondes. You will see a lot of my #spunwithgold technique on my clients this year like Margot Robbie, Sydney Sweeney, and Brie Larson. It’s one of my favorite techniques because it gives such a natural effortless look to the hair.

In the salon, I always recommend the OLAPLEX 4-in-1 Moisture Mask after highlights, or at home, use the Olaplex No.8 Bond Intense Moisture Mask. If their hair is dull and lackluster, I will use the Broad Spectrum Chelating Treatment before the highlights in the salon or in between appointments. At home, use No.4C Bond Maintenance® Clarifying Shampoo to keep the hair fresh and free of hard water and minerals.”

Charlotte Watson, Chief Marketing Officer at OLAPLEX, said, “OLAPLEX products are the key for achieving stunning, red carpet-worthy hair. It’s all about healthy-looking hair. Along with delivering high shine and volume, the patented technology helps strengthen and repair hair damage, ensuring a flawless and glamorous look for the season.”
